Self-portrait/Earthen Memory
Self-portrait/Earthen Memory is an installation of plaster-casted body forms, covered in earthen pigment, which has been grounded on wood and hung with natural cotton cord and nails. The inside of the castings were distorted and displayed representing where the body had been. Representing memory.
I have found that as an artist I must rely heavily on my intuition and trust my process. Sometimes I really don’t understand the content of an artwork until a few years after completion. Self-portrait / Earthen Memory reflects such a process.
